Everyone knows that they shouldn't drink large amounts of coffee, because of the caffeine and other elements it contains. There is truth behind coffee being a stimulant and when you add in sugar and cream, you begin to increase the number of empty calories it has. What you may not realize though, is that there are also some health benefits that are associated with coffee.

Antioxidants

Coffee contains powerful antioxidants that can flush toxins from your body. Even if you eat right and exercise, you can't control exposure to free radicals in the air you breathe. These antioxidants also help to improve the skin cells by repairing damage that has been done to them. In that regard, drinking coffee can help you to look younger without spending a fortune on those various anti-aging products.

Caffeine

The caffeine found in coffee isn't necessarily bad for you. Even over the counter pain relief products often have caffeine in them. It can help you to be more alert and to have energy. This can also increase overall productivity and creativity. An afternoon cup of coffee can be the perk you need to get through the rest of the day.

Heart disease can be combated with coffee also. When combined with a healthy lifestyle, you should see a decrease in heart problems including, arrhythmia, hypertension, and Atherosclerotic Disease.

The risk of gall stones is also reduced when you drink coffee on a regular basis. There are compounds found in coffee that help the body to maintain the necessary liquids for the gallbladder and to have enough bile. When there isn't enough bile, there can be obstructions in the intestine. Gallstones can cause a great deal of pain as well as fatigue and jaundice. Drinking coffee daily can reduce that risk by half.

Type II Diabetes is also a very serious health risk due to the many additional health problems it can create for you. Drinking up to 3 cups of coffee per day can reduce the risk by up to 30% for women and up to 60% for men. This is due to the antioxidants called Tocopherol and Chlorgenic. The magnesium coffee offers to your body helps with regulating glucose levels and blood sugar.

Men will also find that their concerns with fertility also decrease, since there is less of a concern with sperm count. When you increase your natural consumption of coffee, you also have a chance to boost the likelihood of having a baby, without fertility drugs.

You will find that there is actually a link between coffee and good health. Those who love their coffee can now feel great about enjoying a cup of it. Of course, you do need to ensure that you continue drinking it in moderation and monitor what you are putting into the coffee.
