Do you cover your mouth to hide your smile even after hearing a hilarious joke? Then you might want to find a remedy for your stained teeth. If you go to a dentist he can have them removed in a few short minutes. A dentist is fully equipped with the latest cleansing gels to take care of your problems. If you go the home remedy route then be prepared for the long-haul.

Stains on your teeth are a sign that you either smoke a lot or you are not cleaning your teeth as well as you should. Or it's a combination of the two. If you brush your teeth at a minimum of twice a day you still can have smoking stains. Look at smoking as something you should treat, exactly like when you've had a meal. Soon after you put out your cigarette you showed brush your teeth. If this is not possible for you, then at least rinse them out with some water.

Fruits, especially citrus fruits, have many cleansing properties. They stimulate the mouth to produce saliva and this holds stains at bay and keeps your teeth looking white. Hopefully you like to eat oranges and lemons. Keep plenty on hand for this purpose. Citrus fruit is loaded with vitamins C and this helps ward off gingivitis.

Apples and strawberries are also important fruits. Simply biting into an apple helps keep your teeth white. When eating strawberries you can munch them into a paste and rub them into the enamel of your teeth. Be sure to use a toothbrush and paste afterwards.

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide can be combined to make a useful homemade paste. Baking soda is made up of tiny grains and is a good alternative to traditional toothpaste. The tiny little grains in baking soda are abrasive and can scrub the surface of your teeth to wash the staining away. Be careful not to brush too vigorously, because you do not want to damage the enamel surface of your teeth.

Eating dairy is a good source of calcium. Calcium is important for strengthening bones. Teeth are bones and calcium helps to make them strong. To protect your teeth from smoke stains eat plenty of dairy products like milk and cheese.

These home remedies are not quick fixes unfortunately. They help remove stains over time especially for smokers. The best option is to quit smoking altogether. This will improve your smile and keep you living longer too.
