One of the hardest parts of preparing for a journey is deciding on the best clothes to pack. Many travelers have lugged around a pair of heavy jeans that they hardly wore during their trip. Choose some good, stylish active lifestyle clothing though and you'll be comfortable while looking great at the same time.

Some of the most stylish sports clothes around are for indoor activities such as yoga or dancing. They're comfortable too and because they don't look overtly sporty, they're very versatile. A nice-looking sweater is a great choice for cooler weather while yoga or dance pants are flattering and make for great sleepwear too.

Durable clothes for outdoors activities are important too. A pair of cargo pants with lots of pockets is a great option for hikes because it's strong and light and you'll have plenty of space to pack small items such as energy bars or sunscreen. Some pants can easily be converted into shorts as well, making them an even more practical choice.

An essential for any trip is swimwear. While tiny bikinis are wonderful for a beach holiday, you may also want to pack something more suitable for water sports. For women, a tankini with boy shorts is great because you can wear the top as normal daywear too while for men, a pair of boardshorts is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can have in your luggage.

You don't need to pack a pair of underwear for every day. Three pairs are more than enough. Choose fabrics such as Lycra or blends with a high percentage of synthetic fiber because these dry more quickly than pure cotton. In this way you only need to rinse out your underwear at night and by the next day it will be ready to wear again. A sports bra is an item that every woman should have in her luggage too, because it will make travel along bumpy roads much more comfortable.

Since you'll be doing a lot of walking, comfortable shoes are very important. It may be enough to take a pair of sneakers instead of bulky hiking boots but do your research beforehand. Good sandals are great too, especially in warmer climates. Pack a pair of flip flops too for the shower, the beach or for those times when you need to give aching feet a rest.

Socks are a great item to pack too but you don't need more than three pairs. Choose a fabric that will dry easily, such as Lycra. Another accessory that's always a good idea is a bandanna. It will protect your head from the sun, is a great solution for bad hair days and on a hot day, you simply need to dip it in water and tie it around your head or neck for an instant cooling-off device.

There are many options when it comes to active lifestyle clothing. You'll find it in most clothing shops but the greatest variety is available from outdoors and sports shops. Choose wisely and you'll find that it's incredibly versatile too.
