Cellular cleansing is the objective behind ionic foot bathing. Individuals who specialize in administering ionic foot baths in Westchester County believe that peoples' bodies are continuously overwhelmed with toxins and pollutants from a variety of sources, such as air they breathe, a lack of exercise, and the processed foods they consume. Such specialists believe that these toxins can be drawn from a person's body through the bottom of his or her feet.

The typical duration of the aforementioned treatment is anywhere from half an hour to forty-five minutes. The amount of time suggested by the professional will depend on the client's individual circumstances. The practitioner will make this recommendation depending on how many toxins he or she thinks must be eliminated from the person's body.

Traditional water tubs are used to complete such baths. However, an energizing cartridge is attached to the top rim of the bathing tub, and sea salt is added to the water. All these components work in conjunction with each other to help with the detoxification process, which is essentially completed through the soles of the person's feet.

Electrolysis is one of the primary ways that the ionic bath process works. Electrolysis is responsible for eliminating the pollutants through the soles of the client's feet. The energizing cartridge, the latter of which is the most vital component of the ensemble, speeds the electrolysis through a chemical process referred to as ionization. Ionization breaks down the molecules in the water into ions. This eventually creates a chemical reaction that allows something referred to as anions to enter the person's body through his or her pores, where they can proceed to fight damage resulting from the buildup of pollutants. This procedure ultimately results in such toxins being flushed from the person's system.

Many individuals report beneficial results after having ionic foot baths. For example, they may be more relaxed and clearheaded and feel better equipped to handle stress. Some people also state that chronic painful conditions such as arthritis can be eliminated by participating in such baths. Improved liver function is also a benefit that certain clients have claimed they experienced after seeking this treatment.

As with any holistic procedure, not all individuals are good candidates for such baths. Those with pacemakers should not pursue this type of treatment. In addition, transplant recipients and expectant mothers should not use ionic foot baths.

Certain doctors who specialize in podiatry state that such baths are of little or no help to clients. They do not believe that the water's chemical reaction can result in the elimination of toxins. However, as one would suspect, consumers who believe they have achieved good results from this treatment do not agree with the aforementioned statements.

Ionic foot baths in Westchester County are becoming more popular all the time. This procedure has been pursued in Europe and other parts of the world for many years, but has only recently become available in the United States. Each individual must decide for himself or herself whether or not the process will be beneficial. Those who are unsure should speak to their primary health care practitioner in order to obtain suitable advice. As always, it is wise to talk to one's family doctor about any holistic treatments in which he or she plans to participate.
