Northside dental implants are becoming the treatment of choice for replacing missing teeth. No longer are patients limited to removable dentures and bridges that slip and slide, and require adhesives to stay in place. Implants are replacement tooth roots placed in the jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. They fuse to the jawbone creating a firm and permanent foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth.

Throw away the adhesives and eat whatever you want. Artificial roots are firmly attached to bone so dentures and bridges don't move. This also makes them very comfortable, as comfortable as the missing teeth being replaced. Adjacent teeth don't have to be removed, drilled, or in any way altered for the placement of a bridge or partial denture. Implants have been around for approximately 40 years now, and many of them have remained implanted for 40 years.

If you can sit in the dentist's chair for a dental procedure, you'll find implant dentistry an easy visit. Your dentist does need to be aware of health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease. There is a small but slightly higher incidence of implant failure in smokers. If teeth have been missing for awhile, some bone loss may have occurred. Grafting techniques can rebuild the necessary bone for a successful implant.

An artificial tooth root can replace a single missing tooth that is completed with a crown. When a crown is placed over a broken tooth, the underlying tooth continues to deteriorate and can eventually break again. When there's multiple missing teeth, implants are spaced to create support and lock in place either complete or partial dentures. Adjacent healthy teeth don't have to be drilled or altered in any way. This allows for a natural, comfortable fit that won't slip under pressure.

Removable dentures require adhesives to stay in place. Still most denture wearers report they're unable to eat many foods. Dentures rub against the gums causing pain and discomfort. They have to be removed at night for cleaning. Bridges use adjacent teeth to hold the partial in place. They can be uncomfortable and may slip when eating. When bone doesn't have a tooth attached to it, bone loss occurs over time. Neither bridges or dentures keeps the underlying bone strong and healthy.

Teeth lean towards open spaces created by missing teeth. A misaligned smile is unsightly and embarrassing. But the issues are more than cosmetic. A misaligned bite causes headaches. When several teeth are missing it's difficult to chew. Bone loss occurs beneath missing teeth. The dentist can use a grafting procedure to build up bone to support an implant.

Replacement roots are implanted under local anesthesia. Discomfort following the procedure is minor. The typical procedure takes 30-60 minutes. Although it takes 3-9 months for total fusion, diet will be limited to soft foods for just a few days. Follow-up dental care is important to ensure the implant has fully and properly fused.

For lifetime replacement of missing teeth, discuss the option of Northside dental implants. The artificial root is made of titanium metal. Through a process called osseointegration, the titanium root fuses with the jawbone. Once fusion is complete, replacement teeth are permanently locked in place. They can't irritate the gums. They don't decay. They look and feel and are as comfortable as real teeth.
