Most adults cope with some kind of joint or muscle pain at some point. In many cases those suffering will reach for pills or tablets to ease the discomfort, but there is highly effective pain relief cream available too. Ointments and sprays can, in fact, be more effective since they are applied directly to the affect area.

There are a couple of different choices for topical ointments that are able to assist with relieving muscular or skeletal painful conditions. There are gels, ointments or creams and sprays that have an anti-inflammatory action; there are also those that have an analgesic affect and there are heat creams that mainly use natural ingredients for easing muscle or joint discomfort.

One of the common categories are salicylates, which have an anti-inflammatory response. These are generally from the same class of medications as aspirin and ibuprofen, but are an effective topical choice. They work because they are able to reduce the inflammation around a muscle or joint, which occurs when there is some injury or damage to soft tissue.

A second group of topical agents are known as " counter-irritants". These are ingredients such as menthol or camphor, which can heat up or cool down soft tissue and therefore alleviate discomfort symptoms. These can be effective with sports injuries or osteo-arthritic conditions.

The third option is another ingredient called capsaicin. This is another naturally gained element taken from peppers. It is able to warm up the soft tissue area that is causing you discomfort and ease discomfort as well as restoring some mobility or flexibility. This makes it is a great choice for osteo-arthritis and certain kinds of injuries.

Some people consider that a pill will be more effective than pain relief cream. The truth is that topical agents can be just as effective, and will often be even better. If you experience joint or muscular discomfort, then you should consider using an ointment to ease the problem.
