Lyme disease has been categorized as one of the most contagious diseases which are transmitted by ticks. It is highly contagious, a factor which makes the rate of infection to be high. It is also interesting to note that other than ticks, this disease can also be transmitted via fluids such as a saliva and semen. In connection to this, the following is information concerning alternative lyme therapies.

One is always advised to seek immediate medical attention when they suspect that they have been bitten by ticks or when they show any appearing symptoms. The patient should disclose every bit of information including whether or not they have visited ay tick- infested areas. In addition to that, they should understand that diagnosis of Lyme disease in the early stages is not easy.

A person does not have to spend a fortune and waste a lot of time when treating the disease in its early stages. Doctors of ten prescribe their patients with antibiotics such as Doxycycline in the case of adults. This means that the extensive and time-consuming laboratory procedures are not necessary in this case.

There are times when Lyme disease may affect the nervous system. In this case, doctors administer intravenous antibiotics which have been rendered very effective for treatment. The symptoms do not however disappear immediately meaning that one needs to be patient. Also, this drug has several side effects such as one experiencing body aches and either mild or severe cases of diarrhea.

In the treatment of Lyme disease, the special groups include pregnant women and children who are below nine. In their case of treatment, Doxycycline has been ruled out for them because it has been found to stain the teeth of these young developing babies and also the teeth of the unborn babies. Doctors prescribe these patients with Amoxicillin and Penicillin. For those who are allergic to penicillin, Erythromycin is an effective alternative drug.

After the treatment of Lyme disease, the patients may be left with side effects as they take some time before they all go away. Most patients complain of fatigue and general body ache. One does not, however, require using medication for this as the symptoms disappear gradually without the intervention of antibiotic therapy. It may take moths, but eventually ones health will be restored.

Due to the long processes and cost of treatment, it is better for one to prevent infection as prevention is better than cure. The most effective way to do this is through avoiding deer ticks at all costs. Since they are mostly found in wooden areas and grasslands, when walking through these areas, wearing appropriate clothing which covers the entire body is important.

In conclusion, the most effective way to treat this illness is early when there is still hope for quick recovery. In this stage, simple antibiotics will do the work. The recovery process will also not be stressful. When one waits until its too late, the disease becomes complicated hence difficult to treat as it.
