When the muscles of the persons body are overworked, this would often result to stress and may possibly develop muscle pains, and thus, making you feel uncomfortable. In order to relieve the sore muscles, there are a lot of different ways that can be done. Lavender neck wraps are very common for the relief.

These products are microwavable. These types are far more different from the traditional ones because these are going to cool down faster, usually, less than one hour, and thus, not overheating the muscles. A home made lavender neck wrap is made using just the household ingredients and a recycled fabric.

To start with, select a fabric which is suitable for you. You may want to buy a new one but having the recycled fabric will help you save money and these may include old socks, shirts, towels, etc. Materials that have some metals on the surfaces must be avoided because these can possibly cause fire upon heating the wrap. Thick and large socks are suggested for use since these have tubular shapes and there is no need for the sides to be sewed.

Measure your neck and as well as your shoulders using the tape measure. Add a 0.5 inch or 1.3 in centimeters to each measurement you have because the extra areas will be accounted for seams. Some people cannot take measurements and so 20 inches of length or 51 in centimeters and 5 inches of width or 13 in centimeters is fine. After, cut the pieces of cloth according to the measurements.

The wrap filling must be appropriate. Oatmeal, barley, flax seeds, and long grain white rice are some very common choices from which you can choose from. When you prefer to have the rice, instant types must be avoided to prevent cooking it inside a microwave. Scent has a very important role in this method. And so when needed, essential oils with lavender may be mixed with other spices.

Cut your fabric according to your measurements. If a sock or a towel is being used, these may not need cutting. The inner parts of double fabrics are cut into a rectangular form and as well as the outer parts. The lining must be cut a little bit smaller than out covers. The typical measurement would be half an inch smaller.

Fold the material along the length and the inner part must be facing out. Pins may be used for securing the seams of the cloth and to sew it properly. The sewing process may either be done by hand or machine. The seams must be sewed tightly to avoid the rice grains from coming out when using the wrap. Leave about a half inch in one end.

If inner and outer bags are used, leave the latter an open end. This is regularly opened when an inner bag is heated. Then next is pouring the grain with scent to an inner bag by the use of a funnel. A zipper may be used into the opening to easily open and close the sack.

Place the bag inside the microwave and start heating it for 90 seconds. Continue heating if it not warm enough yet but leave 30 seconds intervals. Then wrap your neck and your shoulders with it in 20 minutes and wait for it to cool down.
