There is more to luxury drug rehab than spa amenities and gourmet chefs. A secluded and very private facility may be the best place for certain individuals to regain control of their lives. A stay in a certified facility does not have to be grim; in fact, many things that make a spa experience pleasant are also very therapeutic for mind, body, and spirit.

Luxury rehabilitation centers are like five-star resorts in that they cater to the creature comforts of their clients. Usually these facilities are small, with places for only ten or twelve clients at a time. The buildings are beautiful, as are the surroundings, with ocean and mountain views or others as compelling. Rooms are private and designed to be over-the-top, with truly unlimited hot water, Egyptian cotton sheets, superbly comfortable beds, and every amenity of a first-class hotel.

Celebrities may look like their lives are perfect, but we all know how many end up with drug or alcohol addictions. Their stressful lives, frenetic schedules, and lack of privacy often prove to be too much. People who millions recognize everywhere they go cannot recover in the public eye. Politicians, movie stars, or just very private people may really need to get away.

All of us know that the beauties of nature and tranquil surroundings are vary relaxing. Many who have gotten into situations where they feel out of control are under great stress. Perhaps they have hurt their families or close friends. Perhaps their jobs are in jeopardy.

Stress can destroy lives. It is so bad for physical health that it can actually kill. The mental and emotional toll can cause people to retreat from life by numbing themselves with drugs or alcohol. Perhaps chronic pain has led to a dependency on medicines prescribed without due regard for their addictive properties. The right foods can help with detoxification, withdrawal symptoms, and recovery, as can exercise.

Diet can be extremely important during detox and recovery, so a chef who can tailor a meal plan is an important part of the therapy team. Recreation is both relaxing and helpful in restoring emotional and physical balance. Exercise is vital for over-all health, for building a more positive outlook, and for promoting restful and restorative sleep. Horseback riding can also be equine therapy.

The high-end rehab centers offer cutting-edge treatment, as well. Some are holistic, with acupuncture, massage, hypnosis, chiropractics, yoga, meditation, and allergy testing as integral parts of the programs. Biofeedback, new forms of therapy that use eye movement or warm-water pool exercises, and other diagnostic and restoration tools can take the place of pharmaceuticals for many people, both for mental health and for pain management.

An intimate facility with only ten or so clients at a time, with individualized programs that might include group or 12-step sessions or might not, and with on and off-site activities may not even cost more than the one-size-fits-all protocol of an inner city center that feels like a hospital. Check out the options before making any decisions for yourself or a loved one.
