Football is loved and cherished by millions of people. It started some one hundred years back. Back then it was a preserve of the misfits in the society. With the passage of time, however, the sport began undergoing a complete revolution. The invention of the television only made it more popular. Today, the entire nation comes to a complete standstill on the biggest night of football. This day is known as the Super Bowl day. This sport has succeeded in making many legends and icons. One of this legends is known as Steven Cooper. Here is a brief introduction to his life and achievements.

The forty-seven-year-old started playing football in college. He received a scholarship grant to attend the University of Maine. To this very day, he remains thankful to his coaches and family for the encouragement and moral support they gave him over the years. His place in history was cemented long before he came to the limelight.

Soon after enrolling into the campus football team, he won the coveted title of the player of the year. Steve continued collecting more awards and prizes all through his final year. The most notable being named as the winner of American Football Coaches Association and Sports Network All-American award.

Before the money and the fame, the star athlete was destined for a regular life with a day job. Instead of going to the Naval Academy as originally planned, he instead enrolled at the University, and that was where the scouts noted his outstanding talent. He was eventually recruited to play in the big leagues with real professionals.

The prolific linebacker is renowned for being an excellent matchmaker. His prowess on the field has enabled him to turn the game around single-handedly numerous times. One such dramatic instance took place in a game his team played versus the Black Bears. Even though the match ended favorably for the latter, his solo effort was impressive and spectacular.

The player is well on his way to getting a place on the wall of fame in the NFL. Here are some of the achievements that make him one of the most promising candidates for the allotment. During his younger years, he undertook three hundred and eighty tackles, sixty tackles for loss and nearly ten intercepts. His college mates will never forget the incredible season they had with this prolific black-athlete.

During his career in the national league, he has also done some pretty amazing feats. For instance, the records show he has a track-record detailing the following statistics. Mr. Cooper has over five hundred tackles and eight intercepts. He has played an inspirational and an integral role in helping his current team, the San Diego Chargers to improve drastically in the national rankings.

There was a time when he was faced with drug possession allegations. He was found driving in a car which had a lot of steroids. These medicines are illegal. The arresting officer searched their speeding car and found steroids. Steve walked off easy when he admitted in front of a federal judge that he had no intentions of using the banned substances.
