Hypnosis or hypnotherapy is a treatment modality that is offered by inducing a state of trance. It has been promoted widely as being effective for the management of varied chronic medical conditions. There is, however, no scientific basis to support mist of the claims that have been made. Still, a good number of people have reported improving after undergoing the treatment. Your therapists will teach you various relaxation techniques. When you are properly relaxed, your heart rate and blood pressure will reduce significantly. Pain and anxiety will usually be relieved greatly after this. The therapist will then make suggestions that will take you into a state of trance. While in this state, more suggestions are made to help one overcome various problems.

Hypnotherapy is considered a safe treatment with very little side effects if any. Many of the people who administer it are health care professionals such as doctors, dentists and psychologists among others. Persons that train specifically to offer the treatment all exist in some countries. They are referred to as hypnotherapists. The important thing is to ensure that the therapist that you choose is registered and licensed to offer the treatment.
