It is important to you to keep your loved one diagnosed with Alzheimers mind sharp and active. To do this there are many things that you can do engage the individuals by adding stimulating activities for Alzheimer patients into their life before their condition declines any further. The most important part is finding activities that the senior will enjoy on a day to day basis.

Health professionals understand that when a patient is nearing the final stages of life, it is imperative for the patient, as well as family members to receive support. These family individuals want to know what will happen as their loved one moves toward the later stages with Alzheimers. However, there are things that can be done to keep the persons mind stimulated before the end nears.

Crosswords puzzles can also keep the mind sharp and engaged. They keep individuals thinking and trying to figure out the answers to questions. Word seeks are also great because they allow the person to remember words and how they are spelled. There are many great books that can be purchased on different topics as well as in different type of print. Those who have trouble seeing small print can purchase the books with large size letters.

Allow the senior to help with household chores. Its something that most people do on the regular and never think about the skills behind it. However, allow the elderly person to help with folding laundry, washing, and vacuuming.

For the patient their biggest concern is whether or not they will be treated with compassion, respect, and able to sustain some type of dignity during their transition. There are wonderful hospice staff who work with families having to go through this ordeal. The health care team is consisted of doctors, caregivers, nurses, and family members who are helping take care of their loved one. Each team player has a significant role in helping the patient and family members through the different stages of their condition.

There are many different stages that people diagnosed with Alzheimers will go through. Most of the stages are very frightening and the individual just want to hold on to pieces of memories for as long as they can. Although, stimulating activities will not stop the disease it is a way to help the individual stay sharp a bit longer.

Music is a great way for the patient to reminisce of the good old days, and stay active. They can enjoy dancing and remembering steps that they used to do. Most older individuals enjoy remembering the words to songs and singing along. You might want to hook up a karaoke machine and allow them to sing-along that way.

There are many stages that a person goes through who has been diagnosed with the condition. However, loved ones can do things to keep the seniors mind stimulated and active until their final days. Lasting memories can be made with elderly individual until their final days.
