Acne is a medical condition that affects not only a person's health, but also their self-esteem. However, you shouldn't let it ruin your life. It is possible to take a few easy steps that can result in clearer skin. Following are some tips that might be effective in helping you clear up your skin and regain your self esteem.

Never pop a zit. If you have acne, avoid the urge to pick at your blemishes. This will only make them worse. In addition, you can cause lingering damage to your skin if you break the skin and develop scars.

Try wearing water based make-up or no makeup at all to eliminate acne. You might want to cover the look of your acne problem with make-up, but this can clog the pores, making it worse. If you stay away from makeup it will clear up your pores.

To get rid of your acne, try spending more time outside under the sun. Your skin will dry up once the sun hits it. Initially, your acne may worsen because your skin's natural oil in drawn to the surface. After a few weeks of exposing your skin to the sun, you should notice an improvement.

Those who struggle with acne should make a conscious effort to avoid touching their face. This includes squeezing, popping or otherwise disturbing blemishes. By touching one's face less often, less oil will be transferred to the skin. Squeezing pimples also increases the risk that the area will become infected or irritated.

Getting some sun may temporarily help to clear up an acne breakout. The sun makes your skin dry up. Initially, you might experience your acne getting worse due to all of the oil coming to your skin's surface. This should not last long and once your skin is dry, you should not see as many break outs as before.

Garlic serves as a natural antioxidant and can help clear your acne. When you consume garlic, it helps to remove toxins from your body and will help your new skin develop. To fight acne, use fresh garlic in your cooking or spices.

Stress and the pressures of life are often times the cause of acne. Be certain you have time to relax. Doing activities that you find enjoyable will help to reduce the amount of stress you feel. When the stress lessens, the amount of hormones your body produces will diminish as well, which will ultimately reduce the acne your body produces. Limit your intake of caffeine and avoid cigarette smoke whenever possible.

Previously, we observed that untreated acne can lead to people shying away from social activities. Serious acne can also leave lasting scars. The advice contained above should give you a basic understand of what causes acne and how you can treat it to avoid scarring.
