Sunless tanning, a process of darkening and glowing the skin, has become a safe alternative for many people who want to complement their beauty. Using the Sun Self Tanner lotions can give the dark shade of skin, which makes one look gorgeous. Some decades ago, it was common for people to sub bath as one way of tanning the skin but owing to the side effects, many people are now shying away from such practices.

When the radiations from the sun get in contact with the skin, the UVA and UVB lights easily penetrate into dermis causing different effects. Professionals argue that UVA rays may cause the skin to look aged than normal. Sometimes one may experience peeling of their skin as well. Also, the rays cause dermis to be depressed.

UVB rays on the other hand, have adverse effects to skin. As they penetrate the body skin and go deeper to the inner most parts dermis, they can cause skin cancers. This is because these rays may kill some of your blood cells. There is every reason for people to avoid the use of tan beds or sunbaths for their tanning needs.

One thing that is highly emphasized is washing the body. This is part of a series of skin preparation process before applying tanner products. Failure to do a perfect skin preparation may result to getting unsatisfactory results. You may end up having streaks or white and blackish spots on your skin, which may appear on the rough areas of your body.

The folded areas should be dealt with more vigilance, and you should take your time on these areas. If you have any spots that have shown excess tanner, you can use a towel or wash cloth to remove them. This particularly happens in the creased and folded skin as well as in knuckles. In some cases, some tan lotions may have different procedures depending on the manufacturer.

Irritation is a sign that one should not proceed with the application of a lotion or tan gel products. Some irritation may need immediate intervention of a dermatologist. When you use the self-tan products, apply them in a circular motion to have an even spread of the tan. Start with your face and neck downwards. Apply it well on your shoulders, chest, and the stomach.

In case, you did not use gloves when applying, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after every five minutes. It is important to know what is good and what is bad while applying your tanning product. Applying it wrongly may result to imperfections that can be easily noticed, such as streaks and uneven distribution of color.

Avoiding streaks can be achieved by exfoliating your skin and drying it before you apply your product. Being accurate is also critical if one should finally attain a uniform tan. Getting the right lotion is paramount. Some skins may react differently when certain chemicals are applied on them.
