Everyone wants to have a glowing skin. To get such, you will require to get a tan from the sun. Long exposure to the sun, however, might cause a lot of damage to the skin in form of sunburn and accelerated ageing. Fortunately you can get the same results that you would get from the sun by getting a good spray tan. There are a number of things you should consider to ensure your spray sun tan turns out right.

On the day of your spray tan appointment, do not wear any makeup. Makeup will only prevent the spray sun tan from reaching your face and neck area. The only kind of make up that can be allowed is lipstick and mascara. If possible, try and not wear deodorant on the day you get your spray tan, otherwise you will get some colored patches on your armpits that are quite unattractive.

Do not shower up to twelve hours after getting your spray sun tan. The formula usually takes about ten hours to get fully absorbed into your skin. Showering before this time will wash out some of the tanning solution and you will end up with a lighter shade than you desire. Also, do not moisturize your skin after getting your sun tan, as this might prevent the tan from being absorbed by your skin.

Avoid any strenuous exercise that may cause you to sweat. Also, try and avoid swimming or other activities involving water immediately after you get your spray sun tan. Sweat and water will cause the spray sun tan to streak and you will end up having stripes.

After showering, pat dry, do not rub. This way your spray sun tan stays intact. Also, do not exfoliate your skin or shave it. Exfoliating will remove the top layer of skin that contains the tan and the skin will end up pale.

When you get your spray sun tan, do not wear any bronzing product. The tanning solution already has it and the result will be that you will have an ashy brown complexion. For a few hours after getting your tan, wear loose garments. Avoid certain materials like wool, nylon and silk since they stain quite easily from the tanning solution.

Most face cleansers wash out the spray sun tan. Some bar soaps and colognes also contain chemicals that may wash out your tan. Inform your beauty therapist of the products you use so that they can advice accordingly.

Exfoliate your skin and carry out hair removal prior to the tanning appointment. When you wish to get a spray sun tan for a big event, beauticians advice that you get a try out procedure. This way if anything goes wrong they will have adequate time to fix it.

Moisturize your skin in order to make your spray sun tan last longer while still looking new. When going out to the sun always wear sunscreen. Sunscreen will keep your skin well protected from sunburn. Overexposure to the sun might also make your skin start reacting to the spray tan and become dry.
