Holistic healing techniques are becoming a popular choice for many people who wish to break free of the pharmaceutical quagmire as much as possible. The chance to have their issues corrected or alleviated without the side effects of prescription drugs is an attractive option. By taking Reiki classes, a dedicated individual could learn the method and administer the treatment for others in their local area.

The human energy force, which is essential to each life, is the core of this practice. It flows like a highway throughout the body, passing through spiritual centers called chakras that influence various aspects of health and emotional wellness. When all is positive, a person usually feels well, but when the points become clouded, problems and negativity may occur.

Practitioners of this method have the ability to use their hands to channel a client's energy force and redirect it as needed to address the individual's issues. If necessary, they can take some of their own and transfer it to the person to boost their positivity and clear whichever chakras are experiencing trouble. This allows the body to begin its natural healing process.

The transferring of energy is a completely natural process that has been used to treat a number of different conditions. Among these are feelings of anxiety, stress, being unsettled, nausea and depression. It has also been useful in addressing physical ailments as well such as digestive issues, pains, organ problems and arthritis.

Some people mistake this spiritual practice of dealing solely with the life energy inside of a person for a religious rite. There is no religion at all attached to the method, no belief system and no dogma. It is simply a matter of moving the positive forces within the individual to direct them towards the issues and removing any negative blockages that may be present.

Physical contact is not usually necessary. In circumstances when it is, the touches are minimal and used only to directly pinpoint the force at a particular area. The therapist holds their hands just above the body of the client and directs the energy throughout the individual to target the area of concern. As this is not a massage technique, both parties are fully clothed at all times.

Learning the technique is usually done over a concentrated weekend session. The power to channel energies is actually one that is passed from teacher to student through transference. The course is about understanding how to focus oneself and become a clear and unimpeded conduit for moving the force from one individual to another.
