Homes and businesses alike are finding that everyone benefits from diffusers for essential oils. They promote relaxation, increase alertness and smell marvelous. From whole house electric styles to desk or even pendant styles, there are several to choose from.

Probably the most common style of diffusers for essential oils is the tea light warmer. It has a built in glass or ceramic dish filled with water that you simply light and place a tea light candle under. It takes only a couple drops of oil to disperse the fragrance quickly around the room and the candlelight adds a bit of ambiance.

The electric style work in a similar way in that the oil is heated to allow the molecules to escape. Some of these use a light bulb under the glass or ceramic bowl to heat and disperse scent. Others have a fan that increases the amount of scent being released. The fan style does not use heat. Instead, a few drops of a favorite oil is applied to an absorbent pad that has air blown across or through it.

Reed diffusers are an attractive scent distributor. Depending on personal choice, the container that holds the essential oil may be a simple style or very elaborate to blend with existing decorations. It is easy to eliminate the need for a counter or desktop as these are also available in a wall-hanging style. These diffusers don't have to use actual reeds, either. There are beautiful, absorbent clay sticks that wick the scent throughout a room as well.

Unsealed clay distributes the healing benefits of essential oils nicely, too. There is a large selection of this type available, some that are sealed with only the oil bowl unsealed which eliminates the possibility oil transfer. The diversity in size, color, and style is easy to find and always a wonderful way to add scent wherever you want it most.

The absolute most effective way to add fragrance is through a nebulizer style. Fill a chamber that installs within the unit and then the unit forces air through the oil, dispersing it in a fine mist directly in the air. Graceful, but not particularly attractive to look at, they do come in many sizes and some have lighting options available with extreme ease of use. Simply fill the chamber and plug it in.

Pendant styles are perfect for when a light scent is needed to clear a cold or if a person is allergic to actually applying the oil directly to the skin. They are a personal diffuser that only the wearer will benefit from and can be very attractive.

Before you make your purchases of diffusers for essential oils, take time to consider placement options. The efficiency of one over the other may indicate to you which room each is better suited to. For a small room or location such as a desktop a reed diffuser may be the best option. For a bigger room, such as a large office or living room, a nebulizer would be the more efficient choice.
