Cellulite is a word no one wants to hear. Those who suffer from cellulite do not understand why others don't and it's not usually discussed within the health and fitness industry as the causes were not understood until very recently. But despite the recent advances in understanding cellulite, there is still a lot of myth propagated regarding it's actually cause.

There are many factors that can effect or trigger cellulite, Hormones is the most known and commonly discussed. It's believed that Estrogen may play a part in aggravating cellulite however there is no hard and fast clinical evidence to support this. Puberty and pregnancy are both times when a woman is more prone to cellulite since the hormonal balance of her body will be rapidly changing and fluctuating.

Stress is widely known to have adverse effects on our bodies, the same goes in the case of cellulite since Catecholamines, a chemical released when we experience stress, is known to worsen the condition of cellulite. Reducing stress in our lives is therefor very effective in our fight against cellulite.

However all the factors listed above have been present since the dawn of time- puberty and pregnancy are as older than civilization, but cellulite was not always as widespread as it is today. Cellulite became common in western society around mid to late twentieth century and has become particularly common at the beginning of the 21st century.

Since the root cause of cellulite is weakened muscle layers, it's easy to link our increasingly inactive lifestyles and harmful eating habits to the relatively recent surge in women affected. Our modern lifestyles have taken it's toll on our muscle layers and the best way to combat the unsightly orange peel skin syndrome is exercise- not any exercise but rather carefully targeted movements that will effect the problem areas.

Fortunately the solution is a simple one, in order to banish the cellulite from the place where it is most commonly found: the lower body, is to walk regularly at a good pace. Never underestimate the effectiveness of walking, it doesn't seem very revolutionary but it works.

To get the best results it's advisable to walk three miles or more six days a week. The best way to do this is to plan a number of interesting walk in your areas that you can reach fairly quickly. To efficiently work out suitable routes you can use mapmywalk.com. All you need to do is key in your proposed walk and mapmywalk will work out the distance for you. The key is to keep the walks varied and interesting, boredom is your enemy and if you want to stick to your regular exercise routine you will have to keep it fresh.

The proposed exercising routine is not only fairly straightforward but is also generally extremely healthy. Saying good by to your cellulite is simple and beneficial to your overall health.
