This is one of the healthiest diets that one could refer to. This diet is exclusively helpful for individuals that are dealing with gastrointestinal problems. These problems include gastroenteritis, diarrhoea, etc. The brat diet is prescribed to patients that are dealing with the above mentioned problems.

People that deal with such problems is often found to be at an age of 20-30 years of age and it is most often found in men as compared to women. These problems can be mentioned in a lot of terms, it includes spastic colon, mucous colitis, diarrhoea, nervous colon and dysfunctional bowel. Bad bowel problems do not represent a symptom of bad psychological problem.

You must keep in mind that the brat diet was exclusively planned as a diet to deal with upset stomach and not as a weight loss program. BRAT diet is a short form for bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. There are other versions of BRAT diet that include BRATT or BRATTY diet, where BRATT stands for bananas, rice, applesauce, toast and tea and BRATTY stands for bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, tea and yogurt. Consuming these foods is recommended for individuals that are dealing with gastrointestinal problems, as it prevents in increasing it and in some case also cure the problem too.

There are soluble fibres that you must consider to add to your diet, which will relieve both diarrhoea and constipation and other similar problems. It can easily get dissolved in water, even though it is not digested, it allows absorption of liquid in the colon and thus prevents symptoms of diarrhoea or relieving constipation.

The last ingredient for a basic BRAT diet is the TOAST, you can add a few slices of toast, with a bit of apple jelly, and it shall add to your calories for the patient. If you opt for alternative brat diets, you add tea to you diet, this shall support hydration. Also add yogurt, which provides good bacteria that get depleted during bouts of diarrhoea and vomiting as well.

When you plan a healthy diet, the aim behind it is to look good, improve your energy and minimize the risk of getting diseases. This doesn't mean that you need to be perfect, in order to get it done. Moreover, you must also not consider this as getting rid of food that you love. Remember, that every food that you add to your common food is what makes the real diet. With every food that you add to your diet, you should be assured that you are adding a healthy diet and improving your health.

It is often found diarrhoea reduces the electrolyte present in the body and increases salt imbalances, this further leads to confusion, weakness and other severe health problems. It is recommended for individuals to above beverages, sugary or processed fruit drinks and gelatine based foods.

Eating what is right is not the only concern when you want to get rid of your bad bowel problem. You have to understand what leads to it in the first place; you must remember that eating the right food is not the only thing that is essential here. You have to make sure that the food you consume is in the right combination. This shall help the body to understand how it needs to function to digest the food and work accordingly.
