The gut is a canal that runs from the mouth to the anal opening. Chewed food reaches the stomach via the esophagus. In the stomach, it is broken down further by enzymes and acid released by cells lining the stomach. The resultant product passes down to the small intestines then to the large intestines where it is absorbed into the bloodstream. Waste material is released through the anal canal by defecation when the anal sphincters relax. Gut healing cleanse comes in handy when this physiological process is disrupted for one reason or another.

The gut normally contains numerous bacteria that serve important functions. These microbes usually are usually present in their tens of thousands. In the event that their numbers go too low, the immune system becomes weakened and the body is no longer able to mount effective defence against harmful pathogens. Low numbers of intestinal bacteria also interfere with normal absorption of digested food substances.

Intestinal bacteria can be destroyed by certain conditions that result in excessive stimulation of gastric acid. Some food products such as tomatoes, lemon and green leafy vegetables may contain too much acid in them. Intestinal bacteria survive better in a non-acidic environment. In addition, general dysfunction of the human body can interfere with proper function of the digestive tract. This can occur when someone is depressed, has joint pains, skin reactions or even headaches.

Cleansing of the digestive tract involves maintaining a diet rich in unrefined, unprocessed food. It means consuming food that is obtained directly from the farm especially green leafy vegetables such as cabbages, broccoli and spinach. Whole cereal is of great benefit when it comes to normalizing bowel habits. An addition of turmeric in the diet helps to deal with any existing inflammation and prevent future occurrences. To stimulate digestion, apple cider vinegar solution comes in quite handy.

A typical gut cleansing period takes about a fortnight although it could go up to six weeks, depending on how severe the damage is. Every individual is advised to undertake the exercise at least once or twice a year to keep the gut function at its best. One should also undertake a gut healing procedure after a vacation given the uncontrolled intake of alcohol and refined foods during this time. The post antibiotic phase is another indication for taking a cleansing product.

Pregnant women and those with underlying diseases are not ideal candidates for frequent gut cleanses. This is mainly because pregnant women are likely to have fetal growth retardation if they engage on intense healing sessions. Individuals with peptic ulcer disease may be more symptomatic if they take certain foods that are part of the gut cleanses.

One will be well advised to consult a professional before undergoing any gastrointestinal cleanses. Some basic tests may be done to rule out any worrying conditions such as low blood count. Individuals who have low blood counts may deteriorate if they choose to go ahead with the cleanse without first sorting out the issue.

When all is said and done, a gut cleanse goes a long way in keeping an individual free of certain conditions such as depression and skin reactions. It needs to ideally be undertaken once in twelve months. A single cleansing period normally takes two to four weeks, depending on how severely the gut has been compromised.
