This gives the digestive tract a chance to rest so that it can catch up on various activities and spend more time working on resolving any underlying issues. Skipping meals for just one or two days should be enough to promote relief. If you pay attention to animals in the wild, most animals naturally stop eating whenever they have health problems. Digestion puts a tremendous amount of stress on the body which can impede natural immunity and healing.

You should fast on a regular basis if your routinely suffer from this issue. When your fast is over, start adding foods in one at a time. This will allow you to identify any food allergies that could be causing your discomfort so that you can adjust your diet accordingly. Many people are allergic to soy, nuts, dairy or gluten.

When the discomfort is severe and accompanied by a fever, however, be sure to reach out to medical doctor. This could be a sign of an intestinal blockage or gastrointestinal infection. Seeking medical help is especially important if you have ever been diagnosed with a gastrointestinal ailment like Crohn's disease or Irritable Bowel Syndrome and have a high fever along with your pain.
