Gymnastics is both a hobby and competitive sport with numerous benefits to participants, physically and mentally. Participants are able to build their hand-eye coordination, strength, flexibility and balance. Young participants are provided with an opportunity to stay fit and also lead active lifestyles outside of the classroom. There are four categories of gymnastics which learners are train in. The four categories are trampoline, rhythmic, acrobatics and tumbling, and artistic. For most people, artistic gymnastic is their specialization. Hence, this is the most popular category of gymnastics. As one joins the gymnastic classes, they are introduced to all the disciplines of the sport prior to picking a specialty.

Classes are usually joined by people at various ages. Special classes are available for nine-month old babies. They learn the basics of the sports in these classes. Preschool kids can join gyms and begin learning. Classes are available for various ages of individuals. Classes are also available for the old. There are special outfits that people wear when they go for classes. Girls or women have their own outfits designed for their bodies while boys and men have their own. Female participants usually wear leotards when they go for classes. Women also have to pull their hair back when they go for classes because it can easily distract them and cause accidents.

Usually, shorts and t-shirts are worn by men and boys. Ensuring that the outfit worn by male participants has no buckles, snaps, and zippers is important. Wearing snapped, zipped, and buckled clothes is not recommended because there is a possibility of them causing injuries and catching on gym equipment. The t-shirts and shorts they wear must be flexible to permit full range of range movement. A gymnast always practices bear footed.

Becoming a professional gymnast is not an easy task. It takes several years of practice to perfect moves and be able to execute them flawlessly. Repetition has a lot of power in gymnastic and it is the key to becoming better at the sport. One can practice at home or at the gym.
