When faced with locating a qualified optometrist, do you know where to start? Is there help available with this process? Continue reading for propositions to help you find a good optometrist.

Make conscious effort to be patient & kind with your optometrist's staff. If they feel you are rude or pushy they too may react the same way and would wish to avoid you. A friendly relationship with your optometrist's staff will get you one step closer to your optometrist. As true as the proverb says "you can catch more flies with sugar than with honey".

Don't be turned off by an optometrist's office that is not plush. Fancy furniture and fine art does not a better optometrist make. It is very important that the office be clean and well maintained; however, the rest is mere window dressing. Perhaps your optometrist prefers to keep his or her fees lower by avoiding the glitz.

The golf course is a great place to ask for opinions on optometrists. Your friends have to use optometrists just as often as you do. If there is a general consensus about the quality of care provided by an optometrist it is likely true. You should always double check with independent sources such as online review sites, though. Sometimes people gain bad reputations when they don't deserve them.

When visiting an optometrist, it is important to be personable with them. A casual conversation can be refreshing to an optometrist with a long day. It can also put them in a better mood when treating you and that only returns the favor.

It can be helpful to find out your optometrist's involvement in the optometry community. Is he/she a member of different optometry associations and does he/she attend conventions and seminars to stay current on optometry advances and breakthroughs?

After the initial couple of appointments and subsequent treatments, you might be better and feel that you no more need to visit the optometrist. But it is advisable to go for all follow-up appointments till the optometrist says that you don't need to come anymore.

A great way to search for a specialist is to use magazine ratings to find the best eye care clinics in your community. Then find out if that specialist you are searching is associated with them. Several national publications produce these ratings each year, such as U.S. News and World Report.

Toll-free numbers are the best numbers to use for contact purposes. This is especially beneficial when your optometrist is located in a different area code than you. You can save a lot of money in the long run by calling these toll-free numbers (if available) than their direct numbers.
